Parking at Exeter Northcott
University construction works on the Streatham Campus have now resulted in the closure of the Stocker Road and Great Hall car parks opposite and adjacent to the Exeter Northcott Theatre. However, there is still plenty of parking available on campus at weekends and in the evenings, including NEW Car Parks A & B near the Innovation Centre off North Park Road.
These car parks are a 5 - 10 minute walk from the theatre, along lit paths, but up quite a steep incline. The University is therefore providing a FREE shuttle bus service between the car parks and the theatre for all performances. The bus is clearly signed ‘Exeter Northcott Shuttle Bus’ and is run by Mid Devon Coaches. This will operate in the two hours before each performance and an hour afterwards, with services running approximately every ten minutes. Customers who have been using this service have been very positive about their experiences.
Alternatively, it is a 5 to 10 minute walk from Car Parks A & B to the theatre. There is also plenty of on street parking to be found in and around the campus (see parking map for details).
Click here for a map of all alternative parking arrangments.
There is also a new FREE City Shuttle Evening Bus Service running between the city centre and the theatre. The timetable and pick-up points are as follows:
6.00pm Coach pick-up point on Belgrave Road, by the Post Office Sorting Office (1 min from Paris Street Bus Station and Summerland Gate car park)
6.10pm Bus stop by zebra crossing on New North Roard, near the Clock Tower roundabout.
6.25pm St David’s Railway Station (just past bus stop outside)
The FREE Evening Bus Service returns to the city centre 20 minutes after the end of the evening performance, departing from the bus lay-by opposite the theatre on North Park Road.
New One-Way Traffic System
Stocker Road has now become one-way, due to building works reducing the width of the road. Incoming traffic from Prince of Wales Road will continue up the hill, but vehicles travelling from Queens Drive will be re-routed along North Park Road and Rennes Drive to exit the campus at the very bottom of Stocker Road.
The biggest demand for parking at Streatham Campus is expected to be between 9am and 6pm from Monday to Friday during the University term. Where possible we have avoided scheduling matinee performances in the University term-time. If you do visit the theatre at these times, please take extra care when planning your journey and consider using public transport, or travelling in groups.
As these are new services we will be monitoring usage and adapting them to fit customer demands.
