The Devon Guild of Craftsmen at Exeter Northcott
Exeter Northcott is now hosting work in its foyer and café bar by 12 artists from The Devon Guild of Craftsmen. The contemporary selection features a dynamic range of art work, including ceramics, jewellery, glass work and landscape and abstract painting.
Of the currently featured artists, glass-maker Will Shakespeare recently appeared on Kirstie Allsopp’s Channel 4 show Homemade Home, while Debby Mason has illustrated former Conservative MP Norman Tebbit’s book, The Game Cook.
Each piece is available for sale and, with both large scale works and smaller pieces, there’s something to suit everyone’s living room. When pieces are sold they will be replaced by new works in an ongoing arrangement with the Guild.
The Devon Guild of Craftsmen is a contemporary craft centre with gallery, shop and restaurant, located in Bovey Tracey on the edge of Dartmoor. As a membership organisation, it supports over 270 South West makers of contemporary applied arts, ranging from metalwork, stonecarving and furniture to ceramics, textiles and mixed media. By displaying South West-made craft in new settings, the Devon Guild hopes to sustain regional creativity and reach out to new makers in the future.
The work can be seen from 10am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday, and on performance nights. If you wish to buy an item, please ask a member of the Exeter Northcott staff during your visit.
